We returned to New Zealand in 2017and completely renovated our townhouse. It is architecturally designed, modern , secure and sunny. It is tucked down a quiet drive just 10 houses away from Auckland's best city beach ~Takapuna.
You can walk on the beach to the town centre, the library, wonderful cafes and restaurants and my favourite yoga studio.
The home has a private gated courtyard but once that gate is opened there are the most fabulous neighbours who will welcome you to our neighbourhood.
The Space
Our townhouse has two bedrooms each with queen size beds. Either bedroom could be called a master as they both have adjoining bathrooms. One bedroom is on the lower
( entry) level and sliding doors open out to the private sunny courtyard and garden. The second bedroom is up a short flight of stairs to the main level. Currently we use this bedroom as our master.
We have an open plan living space / dining room / kitchen. Our kitchen is small, compact but with everything you should need to make your self at home for meals. A door leads off the kitchen and the dining area to a small deck with table and chairs for morning coffee and a barbecue for those kiwi dinners. We also have a loft area which is Kaye's favourite space. It is used as a sewing area and is a secret spot for our granddaughters to play in. .This home is totally secure with a code at the courtyard gate and an internal entry garage.
Guest Access
Our townhouse is 2 and 1/2 stories high not wheelchair accessible.
Notes
One of the best attributes of our home is the. area in which it is in. We are just 10 houses to the beach at the bottom of the road. This is a favourite beach for Aucklanders as it is very central to the city itself.

Neighbourhood
Our home is in the neighbourhood known as Takapuna. It is a flat, easy walking area with beautiful homes. There is a supermarket at the top of the road as well as a small fruit and vegetable shop, coffee shop, stationer and butcher. The bus stop is also at the top of the road ( a 3 minute walk) and you can travel on these buses directly to Auckland City. Our direct neighbours are friendly and you can be sure they will love to be introduced.
Getting to my home
Our home is over the Auckland Harbour bridge and is approximately 40 minutes from Auckland International Airport out of peak traffic.. The easiest way to get to our home is by UBER.

Kaye
We are a couple married for 45 years~ George and Kaye. We have two fabulous adult children who each have partners and we are grandparents to two gorgeous grand daughters.
We are both education professionals but intend retiring in December 2022. George has been a School Counsellor and Kaye a Reading Specialist Teacher. We have spent twenty years teaching in International schools in Singapore and India. Kaye took a two year sabbatical to volunteer with an NGO in Cambodia called "Caring For Cambodia". During these years overseas we traveled extensively and we have never lost the "bug".
We returned to NZ in 2017 as we wanted to support our children with their new families. We have been "hands on" grandparents and now feel it is our time to travel once again.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
